Student Leadership Council

Are you a Chicagoland high school student who cares about mental health, animals, and making a difference in your community?

The Paws for Patrick Student Leadership Council (SLC) is a selective, year-long opportunity for high school students who want to turn their passion into action. SLC members will help bring Paws for Patrick’s mission to their schools and communities while gaining real-world experience in leadership, nonprofit work, fundraising, communications, and advocacy.

As an SLC member, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Be a leader in your school by spreading awareness about youth mental health and the impact of support animals.

• Make an difference through fundraising, community events, and mental health awareness campaigns.

• Use your creativity to develop new ideas, social media content, and student-focused initiatives.

• Connect your peers to resources and Paws for Patrick programs.

• Work alongside other motivated students who care about making a difference.

• Share your voice and help Paws for Patrick create programs and communications that resonate with young people.

Your ideas matter. SLC members will have opportunities to propose and lead their own projects, from school fundraisers and peer-to-peer campaigns to social media initiatives and mental health awareness events.

What’s the Commitment?

The SLC is designed to fit alongside school, sports, activities, and other commitments.

• One-year commitment with the opportunity to renew

• Approximately 2–4 hours per month including in-person meetings every other month (school year only)

  • Kickoff meeting is 11/3 at 6pm for pizza in Northbrook, IL

• Approximately 2–4 hours per month

• At least one project or initiative each quarter

• Opportunities to participate in special events and campaigns throughout the year

Who Should Apply?

We’re looking for Chicagoland high school students who are:

• Passionate about mental health, animals, and/or community service

• Reliable and willing to follow through

• Creative, curious, and willing to share ideas

• Strong communicators and collaborators

• Ready to make a positive impact at school and in their community

You don’t need to have nonprofit or leadership experience. You just need to be ready to make an impact.
