Introducing Our Facility Dog Program

Paws for Patrick is excited to announce our new Facility Dog Program, proudly supported by the Grayson Murray Foundation. Our goal is to integrate highly trained dogs into therapeutic settings, providing essential support to professionals who work with young people.

Unlike Therapy Dogs who visit a facility for an hour at a time or Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) who live at home with a client, Facility dogs work full time at a facility under the custody of a trained handler. The Facility Dogs play a vital role in creating a supportive atmosphere in schools, hospitals, and counseling centers. These dogs help to:

  • Reduce Stress: Their calming presence can ease anxiety, making it easier for young individuals to engage.

  • Facilitate Communication: Dogs often help bridge communication gaps, encouraging young people to express themselves.

  • Enhance Engagement: Their presence can make therapy sessions more interactive and effective.

  • Support Emotional Well-being: Dogs offer non-judgmental companionship, which is vital for emotional healing and growth.

If you are a facility interested in learning more about our program, we’d love to chat more.
