Paws for Patrick has worked with different therapists that specialize in working with individuals to obtain letters of certification for emotional support animals and their owners.  The above link provides a list of some in the north suburban Chicago area.

A lot of research has been done to  show how beneficial it can be to own an Emotional Support Animal.  Attached are just some of articles to support this.

Paws for Patrick is a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting young people to emotional support animals to support them as they cope with mental health issues.

Our vision is to facilitate the acquisition of emotional support animals (ESA) for young people coping with mental health issues, by providing and sourcing the animals, as well as training and education, and securing letters of certification for ESAs.

In addition, we provide opportunities for young people to interact with therapy dogs in group settings.
